The Frontier Firefighter Health Initiative

Funding annual physicals for the firefighters of small Oregon districts — the exams that protect the protectors.

The Problem

Firefighters are required to complete an annual physical. But across Oregon, small fire districts — places like Keno and Chiloquin — often don't have the funding to provide them.

When budgets run short, the exams simply don't happen. Cancer is a leading cause of death among firefighters, and routine physicals are one of the best tools for catching problems early — while they're still treatable.

What We Do

The initiative raises community support to fund annual firefighter physicals in small Oregon districts that can't afford them — starting in Southern Oregon and growing district by district.

Required, but not funded

Annual physicals are required for firefighters, yet many small rural districts can't afford to provide them.

Early detection saves lives

Firefighters face elevated cancer risk. Routine exams catch problems while they're still treatable.

Local roots

Founded in Klamath Falls by the medical provider who performs these physicals for area districts.

Give to Your District

When you donate, you can direct your gift to a specific fire district's fund — supporting the firefighters who serve your community — or give to the general fund and let it go where the need is greatest.
