Our Mission
Because where you live should never determine how healthy you can be.
Why We Exist
At Frontier Health Foundation, we believe the greatest opportunities to improve health are often found in the gaps — those overlooked needs that leave rural communities without the resources, access, or support they deserve.
Too often, barriers to healthcare are accepted as simply part of rural life. Long travel distances, limited preventive services, workforce shortages, and financial constraints can make accessing care more difficult. But we believe these challenges are not simply realities to accept — they are opportunities to build something better.
Our mission is to identify those unmet needs, bring together the right people and partners, and create practical, innovative solutions that improve the health and well-being of the communities we serve.
Who We Are
Frontier Health Foundation was founded in 2026 in Klamath Falls by a local medical provider who saw the same story repeat across rural Oregon: required care going undone, screenings out of reach, and small communities left to carry the gap alone.
We exist to close that gap — advocating for rural communities, supporting practical healthcare solutions, improving access to preventive care and early detection, and making sure people in small towns get the same opportunities for health as people in cities.
How We Fulfill Our Mission
-
Prevention Before Crisis
The greatest impact in healthcare happens long before someone becomes a patient. We invest in prevention, early detection, health education, and evidence-based screening programs that identify disease sooner, improve outcomes, and empower people to take charge of their health.
-
Supporting Those Who Serve
Healthy communities depend on healthy first responders. Through the Frontier Firefighter Health Initiative and future public safety programs, we work to improve access to comprehensive occupational medical evaluations, cancer screening, education, and wellness resources for the men and women who dedicate their lives to protecting ours.
-
Expanding Rural Healthcare
No one should receive fewer healthcare opportunities because of where they live. We support innovative programs, medical equipment, technology, and partnerships that expand access to high-quality preventive healthcare throughout rural communities.
-
Innovation Through Collaboration
The best solutions are rarely built alone. We bring together healthcare professionals, businesses, educators, first responders, community organizations, donors, and local leaders to solve problems no one organization can solve by itself.
-
Investing in the Future
Healthy communities don't happen by accident — they are built through long-term investment. We support education, scholarships, workforce development, research, and community programs that improve health for generations to come.
Our Guiding Belief
We believe rural communities deserve more than simply getting by — they deserve the opportunity to thrive. We believe prevention is more powerful than reaction. We believe innovation begins by asking better questions. We believe meaningful change happens when communities come together.
And above all, we believe where you live should never determine how healthy you can be.
Rooted in Rural Practice
Our founder is a family nurse practitioner who lives and practices in the Klamath Basin — performing the very physicals and screenings this foundation works to fund.
